Our History
1947
The firm is founded on Jan. 1, 1947, by John and Peg Law. At first, the Laws become an affiliate office of Mail Me Monday. After 12 years, John Law becomes entirely independent, changing the name of the business to the John W. Law Company.
In the years between 1959 and 1985, the John W. Law Company experiences many positive changes. Arnie Honkamp becomes the majority stockholder in 1973. Additional partners join the firm, several more departments and service lines are created, and the first branch office is acquired.
The partners decide to identify the company as a certified public accounting firm, changing its name to Honkamp Krueger & Co., P.C., to reflect the names of Arnie Honkamp and Al Krueger.
The partners of Honkamp Krueger form a wealth management affiliate, Honkamp Krueger Financial Services, Inc. (HKFS). HKFS enables Honkamp Krueger partners and managers to perform a thorough analysis of a client’s financial situation and, when appropriate, refer the client to HKFS professionals who can comprehensively assist with their financial needs.
Honkamp Krueger spins off its workforce management services into the affiliate HKP. HKP offers a complete lineup of human capital management solutions, including payroll, HR/benefits, time and attendance, tax credits, HR consulting, benefits consulting and retirement plan services.
Partner Greg Burbach takes over the firm’s leadership role from founding partner Arnie Honkamp as the president and CEO. Greg is awarded Managing Partner Elite by Accounting Today in 2015.
Honkamp Krueger’s human capital management affiliate, HKP, is acquired by tech company iSolved HCM. HKP was a network partner of iSolved HCM, so this allows clients to remain on their current HCM platform and offer them even more robust HCM solutions.
Honkamp Krueger’s wealth management affiliate, HK Financial Services (HKFS), is acquired by Blucora, Inc., a leading provider of tax-smart financial solutions. HKFS is a national financial planning firm.
