IRS delays tax deadlines for 15 Missouri counties due to storms
August 22, 2024
The IRS recently announced delayed tax deadlines for 15 Missouri counties that were significantly impacted by severe storms.
The adjustments were made in the wake of severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that hit parts of the state in May.
Taxpayers in these counties have until February 3, 2025, to file various federal and individual tax returns and to make estimated payments that originally were due between May 19, 2024, and February 3, 2025.
The affected counties are:
- Barry County
- Bollinger County
- Butler County
- Carter County
- Howell County
- Madison County
- McDonald County
- New Madrid County
- Oregon County
- Reynolds County
- Ripley County
- Scott County
- Shannon County
- Stoddard County
- Texas County
The tax relief applies to individual, corporate, and estate and trust income tax returns; partnership returns; S corporation returns; returns of tax-exempt organizations; and employment and certain excise tax returns that have either an original or extended due date occurring within each of the respective dates listed below. Relief also applies to payments due during the respective windows, including the quarterly estimated tax payments due on September 16, 2024, and January 15, 2025, and the quarterly payroll and excise tax returns.
Note: The Missouri Department of Revenue has not issued similar relief to these counties, so state tax returns and estimates still must comply with the original due dates.
