Honkamp, P.C. shareholder honored as a 2023 Telegraph Herald Rising Star

A Honkamp, P.C. shareholder making an impact at the firm and in the community was honored today as a 2023 Telegraph Herald Rising Star.

Renee Hesselman was one of 12 local business professionals to be honored during a ceremony in Dubuque. Honkamp President and CEO Katie Thomas – a 2021 Rising Star Award recipient -- served as the keynote speaker at the event that was attended by hundreds.

The Rising Star Awards honor local business leaders age 40 and younger who are making an impact in their industries and also give back to the community.

Hesselman certainly has done that.

She started at Honkamp as an intern in 2003. She eventually joined the firm full time and, over the years, garnered promotions until she became a shareholder in 2017. Her colleagues note her commitment to her clients, and her co-workers cite growth the firm has enjoyed thanks to Hesselman’s efforts.

Outside of work, Hesselman is heavily involved as a volunteer for Our Lady of Guadalupe Spanish Immersion School in Dubuque and with Four Mounds Foundation. Officials with both of those organizations praised her tireless efforts and positive impact.

This marks the third consecutive year that a Honkamp employee has been honored with a Rising Star Award. In addition to Thomas being selected in 2021, Shareholder Stephanie Mettille received the honor in 2022.
