Honkamp shareholder named 2024 Telegraph Herald Rising Star

A Honkamp, P.C. shareholder making an impact at the firm and in the community was named a 2024 Telegraph Herald Rising Star.

Kyle Kass is one of 12 local business professionals to be honored this year.

The Rising Star Awards honor local business leaders age 40 or younger who make an impact in their industries and also give back to the community.

Kass has made his mark at Honkamp since returning to his hometown of Dubuque four years ago after working for a decade in the Twin Cities for the second-largest accounting firm in the country. He is one of Honkamp’s five shareholders in the assurance department, and he leads the firm’s manufacturing industry team. His colleagues said he serves as a role model to others in the firm, while remaining committed to providing top-notch service to clients. 

Outside of work, Kass’s volunteer efforts include serving on the board of the Dubuque chapter of 100+ Men Who Care, recently joining the board for Two by Two Character Development and helping coach his daughters’ T-ball teams.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that a Honkamp employee has been selected for a Rising Star Award.

Honkamp President and CEO Katie Thomas was honored in 2021; Shareholder Stephanie Mettille received the award in 2022; and Shareholder Renee Hesselman garnered the recognition in 2023.
